OCTOBER

  • 1. Finalize college list

    • Check with College Guidance Office to see if you are eligible for application fee waivers

    • Decide if you are applying Early Action (EA) and/or Early Decision (ED) to any school

      • You may only apply to one school ED - get binding decision by end of December

      • In addition to the above, you may also apply to several EA schools - get non-binding decisions by end of December

  • 2. Follow all college and high school deadlines for applying to ED and/or EA

    • Deadlines for colleges are generally Nov.1 or Nov 15

      • High schools require that you let them know where you are applying ED and/or EA so that they send your materials in time for the deadlines

  • 3. Send in standardized test scores to all colleges on your list

    • Confirm with each school that they have been received by the applicable deadlines

  • 4. Submit Financial Aid forms by the applicable due dates for each college

    • FAFSA (studentaid.ed.gov) and the CSS Profile (cssprofile.collegeboard.org) applications open on October 1 of student’s’ senior year

      • Be certain to meet submission deadlines for ED and/or EA schools.

      • It is ideal to submit applications a few days in advance of the deadline to avoid potential technical glitches.

  • 5. Complete supplemental essays for ED and/or EA schools.
